dc.description.abstract | Relatives of victims of femicide or forced disappearance need to create support networks in order to influence legal, political and social bodies. Such networks allow relatives and activists to share legal knowledge to advance their interests. Furthermore, those networks provide support in public events such as protests and demonstrations. This article describes the itineraries followed by the victims' kin and the revictimization that occurs both at the level of State institutions and civil society. The functioning of the legal system is explored in relation to the punishments imposed to the accused. Considering that in Mexico 95 % of femicide cases remain unpunished, the mobilization of familiar networks and activists has become more relevant in the last years due to the inefficiency of the State's legal system.
